ArcGIS Viewer For Silverlight 1.0 And ArcGIS For SharePoint 2.1 Released

The much anticipated ArcGIS Viewer for Silverlight 1.0 has now been released. This has been released alongside the ArcGIS for SharePoint 2.1. Both are now available for download.

The ArcGIS Viewer for Silverlight allows you to quickly create rich web mapping applications using a fully interactive configuration experience. There are three parts that make up the ArcGIS Viewer for Silverlight. There is the viewer and the builder which sits alongside the extensibility kit. The extensibility kit allows users and developers to extend the functionality offered by the viewer and builder.

The ArcGIS Viewer for Silverlight mimics much of what’s available with the ArcGIS Viewer for Flex but offers a nicer user experience when configuring and building an application. Something that the ArcGIS Viewer for Flex is working towards with the next release.

With simple installation and configuration, the ArcGIS Viewer for Silverlight is a powerful tool built on the ArcGIS API for Silverlight that now allows users (not only developers) to build and configure rich viewers. The extensibility kit then allows developers to extend functionality making the ArcGIS Viewer for Silverlight a great addition for any ArcGIS Server user.

Released alongside the ArcGIS Viewer for Silverlight, is ArcGIS for SharePoint. This is a major release that is packed with lots of great functionality as well. Similar to the viewer, you are able to interactively create and configure web mapping applications without writing code.
