Running ArcGIS Server 9.2 SP5 On Microsoft Windows Vista SP1

It’s taken me a little while to get around to installing Microsoft Windows Vista SP1 on my work laptop. This is mainly due to lots of other work I have had on and I was a bit hesitant in breaking my existing setup.

I have been running Windows Vista SP1 now for a while on other machines: http://geo.geek.nz/microsoft/… I made the call on Friday to go ahead and install SP1 as I needed to install SP5.

I had to grab the x64 version of SP1 which has a nice 726 MB download and install. The installation took a reasonable while to complete and went well. Once this was completed I installed SP5 for ArcGIS 9.2 along with SP5 for ArcGIS Server 9.2. These installations were seamless as well. I was a at least expecting some problems as I am running Windows Vista.

I ran the post-installation for ArcGIS Server 9.2 SP5 it was all go! Everything seemed to work fine. I am really pleased with this. So I can say that ArcGIS Server 9.2 SP5 works on Windows Vista SP1 and if you are running x64 it works on that as well.

I will be testing for any problems and will post about this if I encounter any.
