Land Information New Zealand Minister Maurice Williamson is set to address ~ 400 senior executives at the upcoming ESRI Senior Executive Summit 2010. This closed event is part of the ESRI International User Conference 2010 which is set to kick off in San Deigo next week.

Mr Williamson will address a senior executive seminar at the Environmental Systems Research Institute (ESRI) International Users Conference on Sunday morning (early Monday morning NZ time). The week-long conference is being held in San Diego and attracts over 12,000 professionals from around the world.

"Geospatial information and technology is widely used in New Zealand and already contributes $1.2 billion to our economy.  There are significant opportunities to grow this contribution through better use," he says.

Minister Maurice Williamson has been active within the geospatial community in New Zealand. Late last year the minister attended and was one of the keynote speakers at the ESRI New Zealand User Conference 2009. He was also a keynote speaker at our GIS Senior Executive Summit 2010 earlier this year. This event was attended by a number of senior executives in New Zealand including the president and founder of ESRI, Jack Dangermond.

With New Zealand currently implementing a national geospatial strategy, having the minister address the ESRI Senior Executive Summit 2010 and attend the ESRI International User Conference 2010 showcases New Zealand on the world stage.

The minister embraces geospatial technology and it’s great to hear that he will be addressing a number of the senior executives attending this years UC. His office has published a press release on his upcoming visit to the US here: http://www.beehive.govt.nz/release/…
