ArcGIS 10 Downloads Now Available!
ArcGIS 10 was released yesterday and information around this can be found here: http://geo.geek.nz/esri/….
Now that downloads are now available, there have been lots of questions on how to go about downloading this latest version. I thought I would provide some insight as it’s very simple.
There should be an email heading your way with instructions on how to access the ArcGIS 10 downloads. If you haven’t received this yet, the process is pretty simple. Head over to:
Log in with your ESRI Global ID. Once in you should see your account information. If you don’t then your ESRI Global ID has not been associated with your account information. In this case you should wait for an email with instructions to arrive or contact customer service.
The menu system is very intuitive. Downloads give you access to the media, while authorisations provide access to licensing. Only certain options might be available to you depending on your access level.
Clicking on a product will take you into that product page and you will be able to securely download the .ISO. Take into account the size of each download. When a download starts, you have the option of using a download manager or directly downloading. Due to the size of each .ISO, its highly recommended to use the download manager.
Once downloaded you can mount the .ISO image or burn it to DVD. I use SlySoft Virtual CloneDrive to mount these .ISO’s. It works very well with Microsoft Windows 7
This process is ONLY for customers in the US and EDN customers. Each distributor around the world is handling the release of ArcGIS 10 differently. Customers in New Zealand will be receiving their download tokens and authorisation files over the next few weeks as we begin to roll this out locally.
If you do have access to the ESRI Customer Care Portal, head over and download ArcGIS 10! It’s a truly amazing release that will change the way you work with GIS!
