ArcGIS 9.3 Running Well On Microsoft Windows 7

I have now got ArcGIS 9.3 successfully installed and running well on Microsoft Windows 7.  So it was a bit of a task to figure out why things wouldn’t work on Windows 7 and basically the problems came down to the following:

  1. Registering vbscript.dll
  2. Installing Microsoft Core XML Services (MSXML) 4.0 SP2 In Windows Vista Compatibility Mode
  3. Running ArcGIS 9.3 Installation With Elevated Permissions

Full instructions on how to install ArcGIS 9.3 Service Pack 1 on Microsoft Windows 7 can be found in my post here: http://geo.geek.nz/esri/…

I will be testing general compatibility over the next few days and I will post about any issues I find. To go with this I’ll also be installing ArcGIS Server 9.3. I am sure that might be more of a task to get working since IIS is involved :)

Hi, nice to see some one got it working. But I have a problem, I have the beta version of Win 7 (build 3000) on my pc and here is the strange thing. I managed to get ArcGIS 9.2 Licence manager to start. First it just refused, but I started the server and went went to make some coffie and when I got back there was some message from windows, asking if I want to allow this app to run and after that it worked fine. Do any of you have any idea whay it works on my pc and not on every one elses win 7 (even on the same build).
