ArcGIS Mapping For Microsoft SharePoint 1.1.1 Now Available

With the release of the ArcGIS API for Microsoft Silverlight/WPF 1.1 and ESRI MapIt 1.1, ESRI Parts for Microsoft SharePoint 1.1 was made available for download. ESRI Parts for Microsoft SharePoint 1.1 was a new product offering for those that wanted to integrate rich mapping functionality into their SharePoint sites. Information on this can be found here: http://geo.geek.nz/development/…

The ESRI Parts leverage the framework SharePoint provides to offer interactive and configurable mapping components that give you a geospatial view of your organization’s data. The ability to visualize data geographically can be extraordinarily beneficial, as it has the power to reveal larger patterns and trends.

ESRI Parts for Microsoft SharePoint has been renamed ArcGIS Mapping for Microsoft SharePoint.

This product name change comes as part of this latest release which is now available for download. While this is primarily a maintenance release focusing on quality and performance it is important to take note of this product name change.

Some of the highlights of what’s new include:

  • The name of the product has changed from the ESRI Parts for Microsoft SharePoint to ArcGIS Mapping for SharePoint. The name change reflects the inclusion of our SharePoint components as part of the ArcGIS product family and the focus of the product – to meet all your SharePoint mapping needs.

  • The ArcGIS Geolist Web Part now supports interaction with operational layers from ArcGIS Server dynamic map services and MapIt Spatial Data Services. Now you can instantly get a tabular view of all the data in your map. Point, line, and polygon layers can all be selected, zoomed to, and exported to CSV. Find Nearby operations can be performed on all point layers.

  • The same zip file can be used to install ArcGIS Mapping on both SharePoint 2007 and 2010. You can easily deploy ArcGIS Mapping for SharePoint to Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS) 2007, Windows SharePoint Services (WSS) 3.0, SharePoint Foundation 2010, or SharePoint Server 2010 using the utility included with the zip file. Separate downloads are no longer required for different versions of SharePoint.

  • You can upgrade to version 1.1.1 from version 1.1 or version 1.0 automatically using the deployment utility included with the download. The upgrade operation will deploy the latest version of the product to SharePoint, while preserving the configuration of your Map Web Parts.

  • The default ArcGIS Online base maps have been migrated to the new Web Mercator services. The upgrade operation of the deployment utility will automatically update the ESRI Base Maps configuration list for you.

  • Many bugs have been fixed. We’ve included fixes for a wide range of issues, including problems with using ArcGIS Mapping on GroupBoard Workspace sites, applying filter expressions to Heat Map layers, using ArcGIS Server base maps with different spatial references, and many more
