sounds like a double loss. lock into arcgis server - then lock into the single proprietary hosting platform - oh i mean "cloud". i cant control software costs or maintenance fees - now i cant control server performance - platform storage or bandwidth costs either. just let the meter run at amazon.

Guys,

I think it's still too early to tell what's going to be available. The news is exciting and its fresh our of the Federal User Conference 2010.

I think we should see information on this relationship coming in the next few weeks.

Cheers

This is great news.

My email to aws@esri.com bounced ... I was going to ask them when we can expect to see EC2 AMI's available with ArcGIS loaded. Anyone know if this is the direction?

This is very exciting. Will this have any impact on the memory limitations imposed by ArcGIS from geoprocessing standpoint? I can see the advantages of the cloud, but if the software is still 32-bit and single-threaded then the ability to analyze today's large datasets won't benefit all that much, if at all.
