ESRI Is Now Pronounced EZ-REE
Since last week I have noticed many of those at ESRI referring to this new term called EZ-REE. Well this word EZ-REE is now the new pronunciation of ESRI.
Adena Schutzberg contacted ESRI for a statement and received this response:
As part of our efforts to grow ESRI’s name recognition globally, we are transitioning the pronunciation of our company name from “E-S-R-I” to “ezree.” This transition will occur incrementally, beginning with our external recordings. Our goal is that, over time, ESRI staff will adopt the new pronunciation; however, there is no current requirement to do so.
I see ESRI’s wikipedia page has been updated as well with a new section. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/…
Pronunciation of company name
According to the company, ESRI is pronounced as a word, ‘ez-ree’. [7]Some distributors outside of the USA such as Australia market themselves with the ‘ez-ree’ pronunciation followed by the country name.
Lots of people pronounce ESRI differently and I guess this might act as a standard to pronounce ESRI, EZ-REE. Mental note to self:
“Must remember to pronounce ESRI, EZ-REE”
