ESRI MapIt, Put Your Business Information On A Map

Information on ESRI’s latest product offering is now available! This came through the ESRI’s Twitter account. MapIt will be offically launched at the Microsoft Worldwide Business Partner Conference tomorrow morning.

What Is MapIt?

MapIt is software and online services that enable you to create simple maps from your enterprise data. MapIt software transforms your data into meaningful information displayed on maps while providing access to a wealth of online data, basemaps, and task services from ESRI and Bing Maps. MapIt is built on the Microsoft platform, enabling organizations to leverage their developers’ skills and IT infrastructure.

ESRI MapIt is a light-weight mapping solution designed to prepare, serve and use geographic data stored in Micrsooft SQL Server 2008 and displayed through SharePoint, Silverlight, or WPF. The product includes:

• A Spatial Data Assistant to help prepare your enterprise data for use in mapping applications.
• A Spatial Data Service as a REST gateway to your spatial data in SQL Server.
• The ArcGIS API for Microsoft Silverlight/WPF for developing rich interactive map applications.
• A SharePoint Web Part that provides an easy-to-use map component for Microsoft SharePoint sites.

How much does MapIt cost?

MapIt can be downloaded FREE for evaluation purposes from http://resources.esri.com/mapit/… or purchased online for a licence fee per web server of US $4500. This is for ONE domain name. MapIt is available in 32-bit or 64-bit versions.

First-year maintenance is included in the license of MapIt. Maintenance includes technical support, updates, and many other benefits.
