Introduction To ESRI MapIt
ESRI MapIt was announced earlier last week at the Microsoft Worldwide Business Partner Conference 2009. This latest product offering from ESRI is a combination of software and online services that enable you to create simple maps from your enterprise data.

For those users that haven’t been able to try it yet or don’t have a server or the ability to try it, ESRI has prepared a great video seminar which provides you are introduction to MapIt.
This seminar provides an overview of MapIt and shows how organizations can use MapIt to visualize and increase the value of their enterprise data for decision making and planning.
The presenter discusses:
- MapIt components and the advantages MapIt offers for spatially enabling enterprise business data.
- The MapIt workflow.
- Preparing data using the MapIt Spatial Data Assistant.
- Exploring and querying data using a MapIt Spatial Data Service.
- Developing an interactive Web application using the ArcGIS API for Microsoft Silverlight/WPF to share MapIt tables.
- Configuring the ESRI Map Web Part to add mapping capabilities to a SharePoint site.
This seminar is designed for SQL Server 2008 database adminstrators, Silverlight and WPF developers, and SharePoint administrators as well as anyone else that’s interested in creative rich interactive map applications using Microsoft SQL Server 2008, Excel and SharePoint data.
