Earlier this week Mike Hogan provided us with a bundle of information around the new and improved Support Centre website which was to be launched. My post on this can be found here: http://geo.geek.nz/esri/…

This new and improved Support Centre website has now been launched and is available for use.

The Support Centre is now integrated within the new ArcGIS 10 Resource Centres. As more information is being made available on the resource centres the Support Centre essentially provides a pathway into these.

Searching the Support Centre website now searches the updated ArcGIS 10 Resource Centres. Results are then categorised making it easier to find certain resources.

The Support Centre website forums has also had a facelift, providing a new look and feel. These new forums can be accessed here: http://forums.arcgis.com

There is a migration plan for the existing forums.

April 2nd, 2010:

These Discussion Forums will close for new threads; however you will be able to reply to existing threads. This will give these conversations about a month to end.

The new Discussion Forums will be open to the public.

May 1st, 2010:

These Discussion Forums will close for all new threads and replies; however, we will keep them read-only for at least several years. The direct URLs for forums, threads, and messages will remain available, and the content throughout will be searchable from the new ArcGIS Resource Center.

These new forums not only provide a cleaner look and feel but also a powerful engine for communicating and collaborating with others users.

As they are based on vBulletin they provide all the features of a forum engine. RSS feeds are now available for each forums as well as the other popular features one with come to expect from a forum. This is a major step forward. The existing forums were starting to age and it’s great to see the use of a popular engine.

The launch of the ArcGIS 10 Resource Centres as well as the redesigned Support Centre website provides an indication that ArcGIS 10 is coming very soon! I would suggest using these new tools and becoming familiar with the updated look and feel as these would be your first stop in finding resources on ArcGIS 10.
