Yes it&#039;s pretty interesting that the best VM configuration is making use of multiple VM&#039;s via distributed SOC&#039;s.

From a licensing perspective, if you have an ELA then it doesn&#039;t matter you get all the software you want.

If you don&#039;t licensing VM&#039;s are dependent on the number of physical cores running on the host. ArcGIS Server is licensed is per quad core CPU for the host and you can run however many VM&#039;s you want.

One thing though that we need to take into consideration: how is licensing managed in this scenario? Is it the same as the best physical machine (8 cores)? Cheaper? More expensive?
