Business Partner Conference d1, Plenary Session!
Well James is there and he has started reporting on what has been happenning at the Business Partner Conference. This kicked off today with the Plenary Session.
Some interesting things being mentioned. ArcGIS 9.3 will be coming out soon. Although James mentioned “soon” on his posting, the questions and answers for the Developer Summit mentiones near June. http://se7en.co.nz/cms/scrappad/archive/2007/03/15/developer-summit-preconference-questions-and-answers-survey-results.aspx.
Theres a few cool features I’m going to like from ArcGIS 9.3 Desktop. A bundle that James has mentioned:
- Quality and Performance Improvements
- Improved Documentation
- Cartography
- Statistical Modeling
- Improved OGC and KML Support
- Virtual Earth Integration
- Vista Support
Awesome. Looks like ESRI is teaming up with Microsoft on this one and providing integration. This will be very nice for the desktop. Virtual Earth is very powerful and it would be good to leverage some of these features.
And what’s coming in ArcGIS Server 9.3?
- Quality and Performance Improvements
- Javascript API (so one doesn’t need to use Java or .NET)
- Role-based security
- ArcGIS Image Server will be integrated into AGS
- Integration with ArcWeb
- PostgreSQL support
Wow, a Javascript API? That would rock! No Java or .NET ADF’s required. Currently this is the way ArcWeb Services works and Google Maps and Microsoft’s Local Live. It would be pretty cool!
I’m also liking the role based security and the fact that ArcGIS Image Server will be intergrated! Would be great to see this all in action.
Also ArcGIS 10 was mentioned. What’s coming in ArcGIS 10? Check it out at Jame’s post: http://www.spatiallyadjusted.com/2007/03/18/esri-2007-business-partner-conference-plenary-session
I see James is also hanging out with the some of the New Zealand guys. I happen to ring one of them and ended up talking to James on the phone. I see they are having fun and are working hard over there! Keep it up guys. Was good to catch up on the phone as well James
