ESRI Press Release: ESRI Announces ArcGIS Server Code Challenge
ESRI has officially announced the ArcGIS Server Code Challenge as part of a press release. The announcement invites developers to share their creativity and expertise with the GIS developer community.
“GIS Server Developers Invited to Take On the Code Challenge
Redlands, California—ESRI invites developers to share their creativity and expertise with the geographic information system (GIS) developer community by submitting original code samples to the ArcGIS Server Code Challenge at www.esri.com/codechallenge. Developers will have an opportunity to review and vote for the top three entries based on creativity, applicability, and relevance of the code sample. Entries could include a simple task or tool or an attribute or spatial query.
Code Challenge winners will be announced at the 2007 ESRI Developer Summit, an event for developers who use GIS, mapping, and spatial data. The summit will be held March 19–22, 2007, in Palm Springs, California. Developers will learn how to leverage ESRI technology to build, customize, and deploy spatially enabled applications.”
I have found some inconsistencies in the press release. The press release mentions that if you are one of the first 15 applicants, you receive a the ESRI book, ArcGIS Server Administrator and Developer Guide but the actually website says you receive the book, Agile Development with ICONIX Process: People, Process and Pragmatism.
“The first 15 applicants to submit their code samples and submission forms will be eligible to receive the ESRI book ArcGIS Server Administrator and Developer Guide. The Code Challenge is open to all developers, including ESRI business partners, provided the applicant or the applicant’s organization is a licensed user of ArcGIS Server 9.2 or current ESRI Developer Network (EDN) subscriber.”
Hmm, wonder which one you receive. Either way if you do get the ArcGIS Server Administrator and Developer Guide, I hope its ArcGIS Server 9.2
So there is just about a week before entries have to be. Bit late for the press release? but as I mentioned before I can’t enter but I hope all you business partners and developers out there are putting something together as it will be good to see!
