scrappad Now Running Community Server 2007!
So I was so excited that Telligent released Community Server 2007 I had to get it installed and running. I spent some time this evening to get my beta site (http://beta.se7en.co.nz) updated to the final version. This was so easy to do. I was previously running one of the earlier betas on there. I ran the SQL script to update the database and copied the files over. Very simple and easy to get running.
Once I had this working and tested it was all well, I decided to do it to my main site. The database update once again was easy along with the file copy. I was concerned about re-writing the URL’s but I got that sorted pretty quickly so all existing URL’s work the way they did in previous versions of the site. The last thing you want is for all your links to be broken!
I am really liking CS 2007, there are quite a few new features, including a new updated control panel with some easier ways to do certain things. There is also a whole new theme engine. It’s disappointing that it does not ship with newer themes. The themes it does come with are from the original CS 2.0 release and have been updated along the way. Making changes is a lot easier now though.
I am running into an issue with bulk deletion of SPAM comments or I am finding it slow when creating comments as well, I have posted a message on the Community Server forums so will see what happens.
All in all I’m very happy about Community Server 2007. I wrote up about today’s release here: http://se7en.co.nz/cms/scrappad/archive/2007/04/17/community-server-2007-released.aspx. If you have a chance, head over and download and install the latest version. Also note it is only .NET 2.0
