For those that have installed ArcGIS 9.3.1 Service Pack 1 and are using Microsoft SQL Server with Raster Catalogs and are noticing a few problems, you are not alone.
Several users have called in to ESRI Support Services in the last few days and reported the following issue: after installing ArcGIS Desktop 9.3.1 Service Pack 1 when direct connections are used or after installing ArcSDE 9.3.1 Service Pack 1 when application server connections are used, Raster catalogs are not displaying in ArcMap. The ArcGIS Web Mapping API’s Product Life Cycle has been released and is now available. The ArcGIS Web Mapping API’s consists of the following:
ArcGIS API for JavaScript
ArcGIS API for Flex
ArcGIS API for Microsoft Silverlight/Flex
To the effect of their Product Release Cycle, the release date for the ArcGIS Web Mapping APIs matches that of ArcGIS. For example, the release date of version 1.x of the ArcGIS Web Mapping APIs is June 2008 (coinciding with 9.3). The release date of version 2.x of the ArcGIS Web Mapping APIs will coincide with ArcGIS 9.4.

This is always an interesting topic and its something I looked at a few years ago. Always thinking about performance I decided to revisit this topic. While most of the latest browsers allow for six simultaneous connections, previous versions only support two and this can be limiting when dealing with millions of tiles. Back then I was investigating how I could work around the browser limiting simultaneous connections that it makes to a single HTTP server. ESRI MapIt was announced at the Microsoft Worldwide Business Partner Conference 2009 earlier this year. This latest product offering from ESRI is a combination of software and online services that enable you to create simple maps from your enterprise data.

As Microsoft PDC 2009 kicked off, the final build of the ArcGIS API for Microsoft Silverlight/WPF 1.1 was made available for download. This can now be downloaded from the ESRI Resource Centre for ArcGIS Server.
The API includes a set of feature, functionality, and integration enhancements.
This feature packed releases ships as a setup executable which you can quickly and easily use to install and configure the assemblies, components and templates with Microsoft Expression Blend 3 and Microsoft Visual Studio 2008.
