Earlier this month ESRI announced that ArcGIS Online would feature a new premium service. The first addition to this premium service was the introduction of Microsoft Virtual Earth. ESRI has announced that ArcGIS 9.3 Service Pack 1 will be available for download later this year in November. There are a bundle of fixes for ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Engine, ArcGIS Server and ArcIMS. A number of users find that ArcMap takes a long time to start and has poor performance. ESRI has had a technical how you can increase the performance of ArcMap by making some changes to several system settings for a while now. They have updated this for Microsoft Windows Vista. There are several system settings, hardware upgrades, and maintenance routines that need to be performed to increase the performance of ArcMap. ESRI has updated the tutorial on how users can go about preparing data for use with the ArcGIS 9.3 Network Analyst Extension. Instructions along with sample data has been provided.
