ArcGIS, Definitions, Acronyms And Abbreviations

Well recently I have found myself writing up a few conceptual architecture documents along with some high and low-level architecture documents for clients wanting to make use of ArcGIS Server 9.2. This is actually been pretty cool. Even though it’s documentation I have really been enjoying the architecture side of things. Depending on the client and solution, architecting GIS applications can become pretty complex. As part of our Software Development Lifecycle template we have a section in their which is Definitions, Acronyms, Abbreviations. This is basically a glossary that a reader can refer to...

ArcGIS 9.2 Tutorials Library, ArcGIS Desktop Tips And Shortcuts

A addition to the ArcGIS 9.2 Tutorials Library, ESRI has posted a whitepaper covering ArcGIS Desktop Tips And Shortcuts. This is quite a handy document actually. It was just yesterday when I was working with ArcMap and had hundreds of raster images added which made it really slow that I had to make use of some of the shortcuts to get things done. “Summary:This 5×7 trifold brochure includes a selection of time-saving tips and shortcuts for ArcGIS Desktop. This piece is included in the ArcGIS Desktop product box.” As mentioned above this is the electronic version of what’s...

Has ArcGIS 9.2 Been Released To Manufacturing?

Well NO official word on this but from my previous posting this morning, you will see in the article titled: Does ESRI Support Microsoft Internet Explorer 7? it mentions that ArcGIS 9.2 has been sent to manufacturing! That posting can be found here: http://se7en.co.nz/cms/scrappad/archive/2006/10/27/Does-ESRI-Support-Microsoft-Internet-Explorer-7_3F00_.aspx I found this information on the ESRI Support Centre website. Microsoft Windows Vista rc1 + ArcGIS 9.1

So over the last few weeks I have been talking about running ArcGIS 9.1 on a VM’s and also talking about Microsoft Windows Vista rc1. Well the other day I finally got around to installing ArcGIS 9.1 on a Windows Vista rc1 VM. So how did it all go? Well firstly I was using ArcEditor single use, so no licence manager. Surprisingly the install was flawless. I had no problems. If you have used Windows Vista before then you will be aware of the UAC. Just something to note. Otherwise everything so far seems to work fine. It’s running quite well actually Just to note ESRI’s official answer...
