Coming this December, ArcGIS Server 9.3.1 Service Pack 1!
This is an announcement for ArcGIS 9.3.1 SP1, planned to be available in December 2009, and contains a list of issues targeted for this upcoming release.
SP1 will address a number of issues across ArcGIS 9.3.1. The current count of issues being addressed is as follows:
ArcGIS Desktop – ~86
ArcGIS Server – ~25
REST API In .NET – ~3
Java ADF – ~1
Image Server – ~36
ArcGIS Mobile – ~3
ArcSDE – ~31

The deprecation plans for ArcGIS 9.3.1 and ArcGIS 9.4 have now been released. With every release, platforms not being used as much anymore or at the end of their supportability are assessed. With platforms, these can include operating systems, databases, development environments, hardware and the like.
We assess the required platforms and functionality of the ArcGIS platform at each release to account for changes in technologies and markets. As a result, we add and drop some platforms and functionality at each release based on customer needs and technology trends.

ESRI has posted a nice map caching case study using New Zealand Topographic Maps. It talks about the New Zealand 1:50,000 Topographic Maps and the process involved in going about generating a cache.
Source data from Land Information New Zealand (LINZ) was in Laserscan IFF format. This was massaged and made available in an .mxd which was then published up using ArcGIS Server. The caching exercise then began to generate a number of .jpegs for faster viewing.

ESRI released ArcGIS 9.3 Service Pack 1 earlier this month. SP1 included an enormous number of fixes and enhancements. Since the release an important issue has been discovered which ESRI has released a patch for.
ESRI® announces the ArcGIS 9.3 SP1 (Desktop, Engine, Server) Topology Validation Patch. This patch includes a fix to an issue that only occurs when validating a geodatabase topology. ESRI has announced that ArcGIS 9.3 Service Pack 1 will be available for download later this year in November. There are a bundle of fixes for ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Engine, ArcGIS Server and ArcIMS.

Yesterday morning Land Information New Zealand launched an updated look and feel to their website.
A new-look Land Information New Zealand (LINZ) website has been launched today, to provide easier access to information about and held by LINZ.
The site has thousands of pages of information on topics to do with New Zealand’s land and seabed: from geodetic formulae and information on titles; to topographical and hydrographical mapping, and information on Crown property.
