ESRI has updated the demonstration page for ArcGIS Server on the esri.com. Two new demonstrations are now available that showcase the new JavaScript API that is coming in ArcGIS 9.3.
With the release of ArcGIS Server 9.3, you can mash up GIS-based Web services from ArcGIS Server with other Web content. Try the examples below to see how you can use the ArcGIS JavaScript API to integrate ArcGIS Server into your Web applications.
The first demonstration we saw of the JavaScript API’s was the Super Tuesday results which showed a map along with selections and charts of results. The two demonstrations...

Both of these browsers have had beta releases out for a while now and with a number of changes coming it would be good to see how they stack up side by side. One of the areas I have always been interested in as far as performance goes is JavaScript. Nowadays applications are making extensive use of JavaScript to cut down to the trip back to the server amongst other things.
Knowing some metrics of how IE8 and Firefox handle the code would be really beneficial. Ryan Lanciaux has done just this. He made use of the Dromaeo: Javascript Performance Testing Suite which was just released yesterday to run a...

This was another session I was really looking forward to. The new ArcGIS JavaScript API is a new API that has been made available in ArcGIS 9.3. The API allows you to embed tasks and maps in your application.
The ArcGIS JavaScript API is built on top of the DOJO framework. It allows you to use a number tasks which includes queries, locate, find and identify.
Some of my notes from this session is below:
The ArcGIS JavaScript API will be hosted by ESRI. This has advantages which will allow a shorter release cycle for updates and bug fixes. The ArcGIS JavaScript API can also be hosted by your...

So I notice lots of people are posting links about the ArcGIS 9.3 JavaScript and REST API’s.
If you are an active EDN subscriber then you should have access to the beta program soon. Lots of documentation is already up and access to the ArcGIS 9.3 materials require beta access.
Just a reminder to everyone that we are not allowed to mention anything about ArcGIS 9.3 publicly as you should be bound by your NDA hence most of the links now require authentication or have been pulled

Continuing on from my post this morning about the ArcGIS 9.3 JavaScript, REST API’s where ESRI released an example showcasing the JavaScript API, I decided to dig a little further and have a look at the service descriptions.
Basically if you browse to: http://sampleserver1.arcgisonline.com/ArcGIS/rest/services or http://sampleserver2.arcgisonline.com/ArcGIS/rest/services you can see these service descriptions.
I like that fact that ESRI has now created a ArcGIS Services Explorer where you can view all the services running on your server. In the example above they have a number of folders setup on...

The ArcGIS Server Team has posted some information on the new JavaScript and REST API’s coming in ArcGIS 9.3. I know they have been working hard on getting things sorted for the ArcGIS 9.3 release which is really good to see.
We have kept this ArcGIS JavaScript API very simple; to make sure that everyone could take advantage of it without being a hardcore programmer. But at the same time, you’ll quickly learn that this API will let you go beyond mapping and incorporate advanced GIS functionality into your applications. You’ll have access to a complete online SDK with many samples for...
