ArcGIS for Local Government 10.1 is now available. This latest release includes an update to each application along with a new local government information model that you can use with ArcGIS 10.1.

ArcGIS 10 Service Pack 5 has been released and is now available for download.
This release includes a large number of fixes and enhancements and I would encourage those using ArcGIS 10 to apply this service pack.

The New Zealand download links are intended for users in New Zealand. This mirror contains a subset (most popular) of files.
The ArcGIS Server Administration Toolkit provides you the tools and scripts to help you administer your ArcGIS Server. These tools haven been written in Python and connect to the REST Admin of an ArcGIS Server allowing you to quickly and easily perform some common administrative functions, including:
- Stopping, starting or deleting a service
- Renaming a service
- Modifying the log level and clearing old logs
- Upload and registering an SOE
- Creating a FeatureClass from the locations a map service was viewed at (by inspecting the logs)
- Publishing Service Definitions (.SD)
The tools inside this kit are presented in three main ways: Tools, Code, and standalone executable.
With the release of ArcGIS 10.1 we have been busy helping customers with licensing.
ArcGIS for Desktop 10.1 provides the ability to upgrade a currently installed and authorised system from ArcGIS for Desktop 10 to ArcGIS for Desktop 10.1.
This applies for both concurrent and single use licenses. A walk-through is now available to help customers when upgrading licenses.
ArcGIS for Server 10.1 licenses cannot be upgraded and new ECP files are required to authorise the ArcGIS for Server 10.1.
Upgrade Licenses For ArcGIS Desktop 10 To ArcGIS Desktop 10.1
These setups are now available to under EDN (Esri Developer Network) accounts for users to download.
This comes as part of the recent ArcGIS 10.1 release. The Linux version of the ArcGIS Runtime SDK 1.0 is expected to be available in the next few weeks.

ArcGIS Explorer Desktop 2012 is coming soon and to help with the upcoming release a public beta has been made available.
This is a significant release with many new capabilities being introduced. Some of the key features of this upcoming release include:
- Updated ArcGIS Online web map support
- Integration with ArcGIS Online organisations and the Portal for ArcGIS
- Attribute table display
- New presentation capabilities including slide animations, timed transitions and more.
- Enhanced pop-ups including explicit pop-up sizing.
- Portability which means that it can be run for a thumb drive without installation.
- Enhanced search
- Full support for tours
While this public beta is feature complete, you might still come across bugs and other issues so we encourage you to provide feedback

There are loads of other enhancements and features that are coming with ArcGIS Explorer Desktop 2012.
Esri today rolled out an ambitious cloud offering for government and enterprise customers that allows users to create data-driven maps and map services without ArcGIS servers or desktop software.
ArcGIS Online organizational subscriptions, in beta since December, also provide:
- Tools for application development using geospatial data
- An open API for integration with software such as Microsoft Office, Salesforce and Cognos
- Mapping of data within Excel as long as that data has a street address or city name (geocoding will be automatic)
- Cataloguing of GIS assets, making such data easier to find (and less likely to be duplicated by others in an organization who don’t know it’s there)
- Private sharing among internal groups
- Maps that display across numerous mobile devices as well as in Web browsers
- And hosting on either public or private cloud infrastructure.
“One way to describe it — and here’s a big sentence — is that ArcGIS Online is a mapping platform, a new geospatial enterprise platform but especially focusing in on mapping,” said Esri founder and President Jack Dangermond in a phone interview with Computerworld (see related story). “It has other services in there, like geocoding services across the enterprise or spatial analysis services that can be deployed across the enterprise, but the basic thing that most people recognize it for is that it has really cool maps.
Demand is increasing for web-based applications that give your colleagues and the public the ability to obtain the results of geospatial analysis online.
You can provide these types of applications using geoprocessing services authored using ArcGIS for Desktop and published with ArcGIS for Server from Esri.
During this seminar which will take place on Thursday, June 21, 2012, you will find out how to use the new ArcGIS 10.1 for Desktop and ArcGIS 10.1 for Server releases to author and publish geoprocessing services and use those services in web applications.
There will be three offerings at: 9:00 am, 11:00 am, and 3:00 pm PDT (U.S. & Canada).
